Taiwan

Pets entering Taiwan must have microchips on the animals, and pets from Hong Kong must be at least six months old before they can enter Taiwan.

Taiwan itself is a rabies-free region, so whether cats and cats immigrate to Taiwan or dogs immigrate to Taiwan, local authorities have strict quarantine regulations and procedures for cats and dogs entering the region. All pets must be vaccinated against rabies. Pets from rabies infected areas must also be at least about 10 months old when entering the country. Pets from rabies-free countries or regions must be at least 3 months old at the time of vaccination, and they must enter Taiwan within 30 days to one year after vaccination.

Pet import permits should be submitted at least 30 days before the scheduled entry time. If the pet is imported from a country or region infected with rabies, more time should be reserved to make sure that there is an available quarantine space arrangement.

The following are the main ways and procedures for cats and dogs to immigrate to Taiwan:

1. Require pets to be equipped with electronic identification chips and be vaccinated against rabies.
2. Serum test: about 1 month after completing the rabies vaccination, blood can be drawn and sent to the laboratory.
3. Handling air consignment: The Taiwan authorities stipulate that pets can enter the country after 180 days from the date of blood draw. After arrival, they must be isolated for 7 days before completing the entire pet entry into Taiwan.
